Podcast: Autoimmune Disorders
In this episode, we talk about the Ayurvedic View on Autoimmune Disorders. Autoimmune diseases are affecting more and more people worldwide. These diseases occur when our immune system overreacts and begins to attack our own body. Symptoms can manifest themselves in many different ways, but they all have one thing in common – they are a major stress test for those affected. Depending on how severe the symptoms are, those affected have to contend with severe restrictions in their everyday lives.
From a conventional medical point of view, autoimmune diseases are considered incurable and sufferers have to come to terms with their fate. The Ayurvedic view on autoimmune disorders, on the other hand, takes a different approach. Here, autoimmune diseases can be traced back to an imbalance of the doshas and an excess of metabolic residues (ama).
While conventional medicine is mainly concerned with keeping symptoms at bay, Ayurveda takes a holistic approach. Ayurveda tackles the problem at the root. Ayurvedic treatment of autoimmune diseases therefore requires a lifestyle change consisting of a change in diet, exercise and a reduction in stress. Exactly what this lifestyle change looks like depends on the person’s individual constitution.
This podcast looks at autoimmune diseases from the perspective of an ancient and traditional healing art and addresses the following topics:
- Autoimmune Disorders according to Ayurveda
- The concept of Ama and its role in Autoimmune Disorders
- Doshas and Autoimmune Disorders
