Biryani Rice
Biryani is a popular Indian dish made with rice, vegetables, a blend of spices, and optionally, meat. It’s a delicious source of carbohydrate and pairs well with a variety of different vegtables and condiments.
Ingredients for 4 – 5 Servings

Basmati Rice

Cinammon Stick

Star Anise

Cloves of Garlic

Ghee or Coconut Oil or Sunflower Oil

Preparation

Wash the basmati rice and set it aside

Chop the garlic and cut the onions into long thin strips

Heat the ghee or the oil in a pan. Add the cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom and bay leaves and stir until they release their aroma (around 2 minutes)

Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onions begin to golden

Add the cashews and the raisins and mix well
-
Add the water, stir and bring the mixture to boil

Lower the flame right away, cover with a lid and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes. Stir regularly to prevent the rice from sticking

Remove from heat when the rice is cooked
