Ghee

Ghee, although made from butter, is actually gluten- and lactose-free. It is rich in Vitamins A, D, E & K, and high in Omega-3-6-9 fatty acids, beta-carotene & antioxidants. It has a rather high smoke point, making it ideal for cooking and frying. Its unique nutty flavour add a welcome character to most dishes.

Preparation

  1. Place the butter into a heavy-bottomed saucepan and melt the butter on a medium flame.

  2. Once the heat creates a lot of froth on the butter, reduce the flame to a minimum.

  3. Let the butter simmer for another 10 min. Notice, the froth has now turined into small bubbles with visible ghee.

  4. Set aside and let the ghee cool down for at least 5 min.

  5. Now filter the golden-coloured ghee through a sieve or muslim cloth and store in a dry jar.

Notes

Ghee does not have to be stored in the frigde.
