Sautéed Green Beans

Ingredients for 1 Serving

  • 200 g

    Green Beans

  • 2 tbsp

    Shredded Coconut

  • ½ tsp

    Green or Red Chili

  • ¼ tsp

    Mustard Seeds

  • 1 tbsp

    Cooking Oil

  • ¼ tsp

    Salt

  • 1 tbsp

    Onion (chopped)

Preparation

  1. Wash the beans and chop into small pieces.

  2. Peel the onion and cut into small pieces.

  3. Wash the chili and cut into small pieces.

  4. Heat oil in a wok or pan, then add the mustard seeds. Wait until the mustard seeds begin to pop.

  5. Now add the choppend onions, stir well and cook for 1-2 min.

  6. Add the chopped green beans and the salt. Stir well, then cover with a lid and cook on medium heat for about 10 min. Stir regularly.

  7. If the beans stick to the bottom of your pan, add a bit of water.

  8. Once the beans are cooked, yet still firm, add the shredded coconut. Mix well, cover and cook for another 2 min.

Notes

Tipp: Use this recipe and replace the green beans with cabbage, beetroot, kale, carrots, or cauliflower. All are tasty side-dishes that go well with a whole variety of carbohydrate-rich dishes like kitchari, chapati, rice and pasta.
