Masala Chai

Masala Chai is a traditional tea drink with spices and milk that originates in India. But not only there is the Masala Chai a real cult drink, it is also very popular in the Western world. No wonder, after all, the drink is not only incredibly delicious and wonderfully warming, but also really healthy! The drink is a wonderful source of warmth on cold days and is also quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients for 1 – 2 Servings

  • 1 tsp

    Fresh ginger

  • ¼ tsp

    Cinnamon powder

  • ¼ tsp /2 pods

    Cardamom powder

  • 1/8 tsp

    Nutmeg

  • 300 ml

    Water

  • 175 ml

    Milk (dairy or nut milk)

  • 2-3 tsp

    Palm sugar

  • 1½ tsp

    Black tea

Preparation

  1. Heat the water in a pot with all the spices. When it boils add the black tea powder, simmer for a minute then add milk and bring it to boil.

  2. Filter through a sieve, and serve with brown sugar on the side.
