This research survey study ‘Rheumatoid Arthritis & Ayurveda’ was conducted between 1977-84 by the Ayurveda Trust in Tamilnadu, India, in collaboration with the WHO and ICMR. This study focusses on the efficacy and safety of Ayurvedic treatments for Rheumatoid Arthritis on a group of patients. 33 out of 100 patients of this group, steroidal and non-steroidal, who were diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis by the allopathic system, had undergone Ayurvedic treatments for a period of 1 year. The steroidal and non-steroidal groups were evaluated every 6 weeks, based on ARA criteria and blood tests and the results showed a faster recovery rate in the latter group. The final results confirmed the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatments in Rheumatoid Arthritis.
